This is a great introduction to cooking with Lion’s Mane and a tasty way to incorporate it into your diet.
Lion’s Mane Hamburgers
Serves: 4 hamburgers
Ingredients
Fresh Lion’s Mane mushrooms add a deeper umami flavor while blending naturally into the beef. Once cooked, the mushroom does not noticeably change the appearance or texture of a traditional hamburger.
Burger patties
- 1 pound 80% ground beef
- 1/4 pound fresh Lion’s Mane mushrooms, shredded and/or finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
For cooking and serving
- 1 tablespoon butter or cooking oil, if using a skillet
- 4 hamburger buns
- Cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, or other preferred toppings
Instructions
- Finely chop the Lion’s Mane mushrooms until the pieces are small enough to blend evenly into the ground beef.
- Add the ground beef, chopped Lion’s Mane, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to a bowl.
- Mix the ingredients by hand until evenly combined. Avoid overmixing, which can make the burgers firm.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a hamburger patty. Press a small indent into the center of each patty.
- Grill the patties or cook them in a skillet over medium-high heat for approximately 4–5 minutes per side, or until they reach your preferred level of doneness.
- Place cheese on the patties during the final minute of cooking, if desired.
- Place the cooked patties on hamburger buns and add your favorite toppings. Serve immediately.
